No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Submission Grappling is also known as submission fighting, combat grappling, or simply as No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, and takes the same approach as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but without the advantage (or disadvantage) of a uniform to grab on to. The difference between BJJ and submission grappling is in the grips. In the stand-up game, the grips provided by the BJJ uniform allow for many judo-style throwing and submission techniques, while submission grappling take-downs resemble those of traditional wrestling. Grips also come into play on the ground. Where the BJJ ground game is methodical and technical, submission grappling moves tend to be more fluid and fast-paced. We have found that it is best for the student to know the basic fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu in order to properly excel in this class. Without the basic knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu, it can create bad habits with your techniques; having the fundamentals engrained into your muscle memory allows this class to be even more beneficial.

The Benefits Of Martial Arts

If your child is excited to wear that “cool martial arts gear,” be sure to sign them up for Gi Jiu Jitsu! Unlike No-Gi BJJ, those practicing Gi BJJ wear a kimono, pants, and a belt denoting skill level. But don’t be fooled – the clothes aren’t just for looks! In Gi Jiu Jitsu you can grab your opponent’s kimono during grappling. This style has a slower pace with more time to think through each move.

Self Defense

As a parent, your priority is keeping your child safe. That’s why we are so passionate about equipping kids with the invaluable self-defense skills that BJJ provides. While all forms of Jiu Jitsu prepare students for real-life altercations and provide essential lessons on how to protect oneself, No-Gi Jiu Jitsu takes self-defense to another level. No-Gi Jiu Jitsu is unique in its ability to mirror situations students could potentially face in the real world, due to its uniform of regular clothing and its utilization of faster-paced grappling.

Provides A Safe Environment

Preparing to defend oneself against an attacker sounds scary, but we promise to make sure that your child feels comfortable and safe throughout the entire process. We enforce a strict policy of acceptance, respect, and care for others that are incorporated into everything we do – whether it’s student-instructor interactions, warm-ups, sparring, or student friendships. From day one, we encourage students to express any questions and concerns they may have. We believe that communication is the key to creating a healthy and uplifting training environment.

Improves Health and Fitness

No-Gi Jiu Jitsu doesn’t just teach your child essential self-defense skills, it helps them in all aspects of their life. Having the ability to protect yourself will create a unique type of confidence in your child that carries over into their ability to speak out in class, make new friends, and stand up for themselves and others against bullies. Not to mention, Jiu Jitsu is great for your child’s health. This martial arts discipline is known for providing students with a full-body workout that boosts flexibility, improves coordination, and creates positive lifestyle habits.

Creates Community

From the moment a child steps into our building, they will be met with a supportive and inclusive environment of instructors and fellow students who want them to succeed. Because students regularly spar with each other in class, you may be surprised to learn just how strong the friendships in our BJJ classes are. Jiu Jitsu teaches kids the thrill of winning as well as the humility of losing, and we make sure our students respect each other throughout all the highs and lows of their training.

Variety Workouts/Stress Relief

Martial Arts helps build mental toughness, teaches the value of hard work, and gives you the persistence you need in everyday life. Many members at (School Name) have said that Martial Arts is also a great stress relief from school or work because it helps take their mind off problems they are facing so they can focus all their thoughts on striking the target in front of them. It is a workout where you have to have the endurance to execute all the various kicks and punches until the end of class. By engaging your brain during class, Martial Arts can help provide a completely different workout that you won’t find anywhere else.
